The Ghosts: As I understand...

Ghosts. They have captured the imagination of all kinds of people, like the common men, writers, filmmakers, some spiritualist, even scientist. After going through a few pages of the Bhagavad Gita, listening to talks about spiritualism, Discovery, Natgeo, reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams)..etc I formulated my own theory of ghost inspired by the above mentioned sources.

When a person dies, death only happens to the body. His, what many call soul lives on. It is said that soul (my understanding of which is quite limited) doesn't die. A soul is an abstract entity and doesn't have a defined shape. Imagine yourself without a body.
That's how you'd feel, if you were a ghost. It is called a Preta state according to Hinduism. People who claims to have seen them might actually be experiencing an illusion. An image of the body in which the ghost originally had been and the one they still think they're in. Our five senses are actually filters. They give us the filtered version of the universe around us. Since the ghosts are deprived of that they can see the Truth. But they don''t understand it. They might try to reach out to us in anyway possible for help as they are terribly confused. Those ghosts which gains an understanding of the Truth cease to exist as Ghosts and become, once again, the Truth.
